Codeine for tremors and restless legs???

Posted by GreatDaneBoy on September 20, 2003, at 1:10:31

Hi, I have always had restless legs and benign essential tremors for my entire life. When I was diagnosed with bipolar a few years ago, the myriad of medications that I have been on have done a number on my tremors. Now, they sometimes get so bad that I can hardly write, which is a bad thing considering I just went back to school to finish my degree.

Anyway, my pdoc and I think that I am finally on the right combo of meds (not including tremors):
Seroquel 800mg, Depakote 1500mg, Lamictal 200mg, Prozac 60mg, and Topamax 50mg.

My neurologist, who I am now seeing to treat the tremors, agrees with my pdoc that since this med combo is working, we need to find a drug to add-in. So far we've tried Klonopin, propranolol, mirapex, pergolide, requip, keppra, neurontin, and mysoline. These did nothing for me! So now my neuro says our next option is: Codeine! That seems crazy to add that to all the rest of the sedating stuff I am taking (although I do not feel tired or medicated during the day).

Anyway, my doctors are both experts in their field and I would jump off a building if that is what they wrote on their little perscription pad. I just wanted to see if anybody had any opinions on this!

Have a great weekend,
Dane! =)
