I had a pdoc that told me once that Paxil and Effexor were the best AD's for anxiety (before Lexapro was on the market). I would NOT suggest Effexor for a first time AD user. My husband has no adverse sexual side effects on Paxil, so I would recommend that first. I took it successfully for years, also. And I'm a friend of Bill W also.
