Lexapro and concentration

Posted by Cardozo on July 23, 2003, at 20:13:21

So I just finished up my first year of law school. About half way through I was in bad shape. Depressed because I was away from my girldfriend. Anxious from studying so freakin much. After I started taking Lexapro I felt a lot better, ie. my stomach was not in a permanent knot, I could sleep without my mind racing for hours about stupid stuff, I spoke out in class more often. The only problem is that even after the side effects had all gone (sexual, nausea) I felt like I could't concentrate or think as quickly. Even now I feel less mentally able. All in all I am definitley happier but I feel like a muffle brained version of my old self.

Thinking about dropping the Lexapro for second year of law school... maybe help my grades. But at the same time I did not like being depressed and anxious so much of the time.

Sorry for the rambling but this is my first post... So my old doctor said that sometimes these types of drugs train your brain so you can go off of them and still retain the balanced serratonin levels... was she full of it or is there some truth to it?
