I've recently started taking medication for ADD and it's helped quite a bit with focus, concentration and, believe it or not, the ability to sit still. From what I've read, this is because these ADD symptoms are caused by a lack of under-activity in the frontal lobe of the brain, which is "fired up" by a low dose of stimulant throughout the day.
I was fortunate enough to pick up a great book -
"Healing ADD" by Daniel Amen MD. He's a leading authority on ADD and has been able to isolate 6 specific types of ADD though 3-D brain scanning.
It's important to discern ADD type because different treatments are used, and the self-evaluation developed by Dr. Amen is relatively simple and easy to use. For more information and the latest on ADD research, go to his website at www.brainplace.com - it sounds to me like you might very well have one of these ADD types and could be helped with medication.
