There's been tons of discussion of Klonopin here, and the bottom line is that for many people (like me) it's extremely effective for anxiety. Many people stay at the same dose for years with no problems or need to increase. As with other benzodiazepines, it should be discontinued gradually, but this is the case for many other meds -- especially some of the antidepressants (Paxil, Effexor, etc.) which are being hyped for anxiety, yet have the highest rates of "discontinuation syndrome" among medications of any kind.
