There are many here who know alot about Klonopin. I've been on it for over a year. I fought being on it for a while and tried to not use it. I didn't succeed and had an terrible time with anxiety and panic. Klonopin gave me back a life I lost to anxiety and panic. Many use it for a number of years without the pitfalls of tolerence or the dreaded "addiction". I finally gave up beleiving the benzo phobic information (it wasn't true for me). I'm very low dose, have never increased and I'm actually taking what is probably a subtherpeudic dose, but it works for me at the level I take it. There is caution to be exercised and you need to follow up with your doc. Any benzo is used cautiously in persons with a history of substance abuse. As with all the meds discussed here, there are good and bad stories. Knowing both was important to me and helped me "come to peace" with a good treatment choice for me.
It's an individual choice with you and your doc. But benzo's, used correctly, can save a life from the awful demons of anxiety.
