i agree with djmmm for the most part, were my sp is not helped by increased exposure and practice in social situations , mine is centered around poor word processing even in none threating situations, extreme pessimism, even around family members who i live with etc...
anyway for some im sure it could help. its kind of like throwing you right into the ball park but with a great deal of safety. these people arent likely to judge you negativily, and they should congradulate you on your progress. and once you feel like you can do that, you could gain a great deal of confidence in other social situations. unless it is torturing, i would give it a shot.
