Some people respond to maois when nothing else works. I second the parnate-instead-ofnardil encouragement, excpet that i would agree that if the nardil is ok, you CAN get it, and if it works dont fix it.
For me--Nardil worked great for my mood but caused terrible weight gain. i had to go off it to have a baby and then wanted to find something without the extreme weight gain problem. I have a VERY good researcher doctor--we tried every ssri etc but finally tried parnate.
it worked and WITHOUT weight gain. I have found I can eat most things on the so-called restricted list. wine is fine. I avoid liver and very aged cheeses but a little parmesan on pasta has not been a problem. again if maois are what work for you, then be glad you have found what works.
(PS for me going OFF nardil was hell . . .)> If you responded so well and could tolerate the Nardil for so many years why not stick with the MAOI's? Another to try is Parnate. I had great luck in the past when I switched from Nardil to Parnate. If you don't mind my asking what other AD's have you used and what is your dx?
