I really feel for you, I had horrible muscle pain and stiffness coming off of Paxil, also primarily in the neck/shoulder region. Not sure if the drug or the withdrawal specifically has anything to do with them in your case, though it probably does. Anyway, there are relatively benign medications that should control that problem while you're coming off of the medication, which will surely make withdrawal much less painful. I take a muscle relaxer called Soma myself, though I use it for fibromyalgia muscle pain. It works wonderfully at what it does, and is also very "soothing" to your brain... I don't want to say sedating, as it doesn't really seem to sedate as much as just relieve what they call "psychic tension". There are other drugs also used for acute painful conditions like this, and when I was withdrawing from Paxil they tried me on several... the two that really seemed to help the most were Valium and Zanaflex. The other one they gave me, Flexeril, seemed to do very little other than make me drowsy and give me horrible dry mouth.
If you'd prefer a non-prescription way to handle this, I'm sure an aspirin, a warm bath, and maybe even those heat pads they sell for muscle tension (I think they're called Therma-Care?) could work great. Good luck!
