YES! It ihibits the Monoamine oxidace that oxidizes the amino acids serotonin, norepinephrine, and to a smaller extent dopamine. It is NOT an agonist, that is the wrong terminology. An agonist is like Cocaine, for example, which directly mimics dopamine and is therefore a D1 (dopamine suptype 1) agonist cause it stimulates it DIRECTLY. MAOI's don't directly stimulate anything, they just allow your neurotransmitter levels to rise.
