Hello everyone, has anybody been on moclobemide (Manerix) for a long period of time. I tried it before alone and it seemed to make my anxiety worse. I am now, with my pshysicians approval, going to take it with a good benzodiazepine and my codiene pain medication. My physician said besides Demerol (opiod), he has seen no problems with use with codiene. I take codiene for arthritic and back pain problems and it is not a large amount. So are there any other Moclobemide (Manerix) takers to help with ideas, or just support? I was on Effexor Xxtended Release (XR) for many years, and at high doses (450mg's), but it not only ruined my sex drive and made me fat and lethargic but didn't barely touch the depression and made anxiety often worse. After 12 years the only other option is a regular MAOI, but not only could I not ever stick to the diet I often have to take other meds that are contraindicated. It is an option of last resort I know (taking a regular MAOI), but this current combo with moclobemide (an Reversible MAOI) came close to working well before and now with the addition of other medications may bring me to the top. Plus, it has also gone generic, and is cheaper which helps as I am unemployed.
I would do anything in the world to lose that """mind freeze" Effexor caused, and I cannot tolerate any other SSRI and only nortripyline is the other med that I can handle. So many, too many, meds just focus on serotonin, and there isn't much around (easily prescribed) for meds that affect particular pathways in the dopamine, norepinephrine, and opioid pathways. There are individual meds, but none that act together in a unique way. (like, my doctor talks about a med can upregulate, downregulate, and act with very specific precision on sub-receptors like Dopamine 1-2-3-4 and serotonin 5H2, a, 5H3, 5H4, etc.)
So I would really like any comments please. If I can help anyone too, please I will try. Thank you so much. John
