In 1990 I developed terrible problems with swallowing, throwing up and dry-retching. There was nothing wrong with me physically. In 1992 I was put on Nardil. After 6 weeks the drug 'kicked-in' and all my symptoms disappeared. Nardil was a real lifesaver.
11 years later I am still on Nardil. I take 4x15mg tablets each morning.
I have twice tried to change to SSRIs with no success.
Despite the warning about dietary restrictions I find that I have no problems whatsoever. However, I do suffer from two serious side-effects. The first has ben weight gain. The second is insomnia. For this I take 2x1mg Lortemazepam and 10mg Neulactil (a pericyazine)one hour before I go to bed. My sleep is great. However, the Lortemazepam on its own wil only knock me out for about an hour. For extended deep REM sleep the Neulactil is absolutely vital.
I would be very interested to hear from both other Nardil users and from any people with symptoms such as my own.

PS1 I lived in Australia for 9 years and am considering returning. Does anyone have any details about the curent situation with Nardil availability? It was taken off the market, but I've heard talk that it will soon be re-available.
PP2 My psychiatrist is currently suggesting that I go on Lithium in addition to the Nardil. Does anyone have any experience of this?
PS3 A psychiatrist once tried to change me onto SSRIs immediateley (Citalopram). I fell unconcious and was in a coma for 4 hours. Take drug interactions with Nardil very seriously!
