I've been on selegiline (eldpryl) 50mg for two weeks. no real side effects, besides insomnia which I've had for a while anyway. Just wondering if this med was working for anyone, how long it took to kick in and at what dose? Based on what I've read on this site, all my future med trials are going to be for a solid six weeks from now on. Formerly i was in such a panic to feel good again after the nardil stopped working, that I didn't have the patience to sit on meds and jumped around a bunch. I also simply couldn't accept not feeling right, and went to bed every night expecting to feel different overnight. anyway, I have another question which is more general: if the selegiline doesn't work, I'm going to retry the parnate, giving it a longer trial than the first time, and if that fails, I may go back to tca's, which I never gave a fair chance/enough time to kick in. I may be a slow responder, but I also have the tendency to stop meds when they initially make me feel worse, thinking I'm having a paradoxical reaction. However, reading some posts here, it seems that in some cases there's a storm before the calm and that lots of people stick with a drug even if it's giving them increased anxiety or seeming to make them worse in some regards. I've had enough experience with AD's that unpleasant side effects like nausea, inorgasmia, bowel troubles, etc. don't deter me, but if i feel especially withdrawn, anxious, or particularly stressed and down, I often stop the drug i'm on immediately. is this recommended, or should I give every med I try six weeks, even if i feel it's making me worse after a week or two? thanks!
