First of all I didn't find Lexapro to be helpful for anxiety. Secondly, I'm wondering how long you have been on diazepam? After being on clonazepam (klonopin) for a few months, I noticed having bad anxiety in the mornings. I now know that this was rebound anxiety caused by the klonopin as I was building up tolerance to it (I had the same experience when I was taking xanax every night for sleep). After weaning myself from klonopin and getting past the withdrawal symptoms, I noticed that I no longer had the morning anxiety.
