My sister and I have both experienced this "head rush" for as long as we can remember. As Thomas123 says, it is due to low blood pressure (something that is just "genetic" in my sis and me according to our doctor, as we were experiencing it when quite young and on no meds). It can be uncomfortable, but is usually not serious. I've just learned to always get up slowly - usually keeping my head tilted down, my body forward and my hands on my knees when standing. It passes in two or three seconds. You might want to get your blood pressure checked. Chances are, it's on the low side.
