I would disagree....

I have OCD/anxiety and episodic depression...

Prozac was hands down the best med I ever tried...Effexor was second best.

I felt more 'real' on Effexor and even though I had anorgasmia (as I did on Prozac), my libido was not at all decreased. I also liked that it was somewhat stimulating and that I lost weight on it.

BUT, Effexor stopped working after a few weeks at the max dose...and even when it WAS working, it wasn't as effective as the Prozac had been.

I've been on Zoloft for a month now (the only other SSRI I've tried)...so far I've felt WORSE...so perhaps it just depends on the SSRI!

In general I think that the SSRIs are superior for treating anxiety and anxiety disorders. But Effexor might be superior for treating straight up depression.

Just my 0.02.
