Insomnia is a sign of depression. After 2 years I doubt it is something you can 'snap out of'. Personally, I would continue the talk therapy, to see if there were any events that brought the depression on. You probably won't see a change after only 2 weeks of Lexapro, so don't let that discourage you (and feel free to start with 5mg - 1/2 tablet - for a few days to start). I've been taking the Lexapro in the evening, and have been sleeping much better. I also take .5mg of Xanax before bed - you may want to ask if you can take something to help you sleep.
2 years is too long to be depressed. Please give the therapy and meds a chance, and let us know how you're doing.
