In reply to Anafranil for OCD - tell me your experiences!, posted by ace on February 3, 2003, at 22:08:32
I took anafranil for 5 years. It was like a smart pill for me. I had a sense of sureness in my decisions I never had before. Without medication I tend to be what people would call dense. I check instructions over and over (reading them start to finish) to be sure of my understanding. I beat little minute points to death and until I am mentally exausted. Anafranil seemed to have given me mental clarity. It also helped with shyness because I no longer felt so unsure of what I was going to say or afraid of how to come back if someone was confrontational towards me. It made me feel "normal" except for the side effects of a nervous tension not allowing me to relax and difficulty urinating. The most I could really handle was 50mg every 18 hrs which was something I thought up myself and probably not adviseable since I yo-yoed. Anafranil without the side effects would be a miracle for me!
