The Beast was written by Tracy Thompson. It IS a good book. But, in your state right now, I think it is probably difficult to read. I know how you feel, trapped in your own mind.
I am glad and relieved to hear that you are in the care of a pdoc and I think, if you can manage this, you might ask your pdoc if there are any support groups available you might participate in. My original pdoc tried a few times to get me to go to group therapy, but I never liked the idea. I'm talking more about a group who has a faciliator and is just an open forum for everyone to express what they are going through and maybe some suggestions to help get through the difficult times. I wish I could be there to hold you hand and make you chicken noodle soup! Try to keep this thought in mind, "there is a light at the end of the tunnel" and be proud of yourself for seeking out and getting the help you need.
You didn't mention the meds they have put you on...talk some about that and I'm sure there are many on the board who can advise you about side effects, time it takes to kick in, etc...
REmember, you are NOT alone...just look at the volume of messages on this board!
Please keep us posted on how you are doing and let us know what those meds are...some of us have experience with more than one...or two...or MORE of them......Mary
