Jessica-
I've been taking Parnate for about two years now, 80mg per day. Two doses, 40mg in the morning and 40mg around 5 or 6pm. I have found:1) It interferes with sleep if taken too late at night
2) This does not happen all the time, but if I stand up after sitting awhile I become very lightheaded & have to bend down for a minute to get blood to my head. After the first few times you will become accustomed to this.
3) Some sexual dysfunction. I take Klonopin also, so maybe it is the result of the two meds combined.
4) Diet. Not a big deal. I have raisen bran (dried fruit) for breakfast every morning. One or two imported beers have produced no reactions, nor have one or two glasses of red wine. Pizza is fine. I drink LOTS of coffee. I eat chocolate. I do NOT eat the meats listed in the dietary restrictions. I've found a bit of cheddar or swiss cheese is OK. I stay away from Soy Sauce, but I do eat things like peanut butter, which has soy in it.
*****These have been my experiences, I'm not advising you to disregard the dietary restrictions*****
5) Intense cravings for sweets. Cake, pie, ice cream, cookies, etc. Watch out for weight gain. I've put on about 10 lbs.
6) Parnate has been helpful for me. Much better & less side effects than all the SSRI's I tried.
Good Luck, I hope I've eased your fears a bit.
