Hi.
I should think a week should be enough. However, I don't think there is any advantage to reboxetine over desipramine regarding cardiac and "fight or flight" CNS side-effects. Personally, I don't like the drug. It made me much more depressed and gave me some of the worst anxiety I have ever experienced. On the other hand, desipramine helps reduce anxiety for me. Statistically, reboxetine doesn't seem to be particularly effective as an antidepressant, and has not been given an approvable letter by the FDA for lack of efficacy. I doubt it will ever be marketed in the US. Of course everyone is different, and I guess it is a miracle drug for some people.
You would end up being a guinea pig, but have you looked at the newly-approved drug, atomoxetine (Strattera)? It is a very selective NE reuptake inhibitor - as are desipramine and reboxetine. Although it is currently marketed as a treatment for ADD/ADHD, atomoxetine was originally developed as an antidepressant under the name tomoxetine.
Good luck. I hope reboxetine is your miracle drug.
