In reply to When will Wellbutrin work what is your experience?, posted by Sara Field on December 6, 2002, at 8:15:06
For me, Wellbutrin is one of the only ADs that doesn't make it impossible for me to have a sex life. The other ADs seem to make it impossible for me to orgasm--I can be aroused for hours, but never climax. My Dr. told me that the inability to orgasm will in itself cause depression, even if the AD has a good effect on mood--I think he is right.
Having said that, 5 weeks is a good length of time. The response to ADs seems to me to be pretty individualized, so I'd say that your husband has given this dosage of Wellbutrin a good try and maybe it is time to try another strategy. It might be worth giving a higher dose a try--with the SR form it is pretty safe. If that doesn't work, it might be time to try a different med altogther.
Good luck!
