Effexor: what is happening to me?

Posted by A.M. on November 25, 2002, at 5:18:35

I have suffered from depression for several years and tried medications such as Wellbutrin yet with little or no success. I have been off all such medications for nearly five years. My new doctor prescribed me 150mg Effexor and 100mg Trazadone. These dosages did not sit well with my 105lb body. While encouraged to stick with the Effexor regiment, I have been allowed to discontinue the Trazadone.
I have been on the Effexor for six weeks or so, the tremors have lessened, especially in my arms and jaw, but I get tingling in my legs at night causing me to scratch up my legs in my sleep. I have frequent nightmares about bleeding through my eyes, ears, and nose. I jump and "twitch" in my sleep.
I have noticed a slight change in my mood; my usual crankiness has lost it's edge. I feel like a faucet now that runs either scalding hot or freezing cold..no gray area between the "warm, fuzzy, elated" feelings and the "anxious, eratic, I want to die" feelings. They switch on and off without provocation or warning.
It has taken me nearly an hour to write this post and now my mind feels weary. I don't know what else to say.
