Was wondering if you had ever gotten in touch with Memantine.

I've been thinking about biting the MAOI bullett for awhile now. Guess its time for me to think about whether I want to be well badly enough to give up red wine.

Hi Hattree!
It's nice to "see" you. No, I haven't tried Memantine. It seems that most of the research is "pre-clinical" (done on rats), so I think I'll wait before I subject myself to it.

As for Parnate, I tried it a long, long time ago and, as so often happens with me, I had a paradoxical reaction to it. I had daytime "sleep attacks," almost like narcolepsy. My doctor added a wee bit of ritalin to the mixture and the sleep attacks stopped, but in other respects, it didn't seem to be that great of an antidepressant for me. It does help many others, though, and I think it's worth a try if you're willing to make the dietary changes. I had a hard time giving up pizza. After I got off of Parnate and went through the two-week washout period, I ate pizza every night for several weeks. I'm interested to learn more about Moclobemide, which is not available in this country.
