Klonopin is a benzo. It actually is slightly later in onset than Xanax, I believe- isn't Xanax closer to 20, and Klonopin is more like 20-40 min.? Anyway, onset of action is pretty similar for the benzos, but that's mainly I guess what people look at for a general comparison...
Klonopin wouldn't really be any more addictive than Xanax is- they're all benzos, and all have a habit forming potential. Most of the addiction comes from when an anxious patient repeatedly tells himself that he can't "get through the day" without the pill. Suddenly it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. It's something you try to tell yourself you can get on with without, and if it continues to be a problem, I guess you just sort of take it and accept its necessity...
although it's hard to do any of this objectively, since anxiety is quite the cannablistic mechanism.... but we all do try to see how much we can get accomplished without it, and most importantly, try to lower the expectations and goals we set ourselves up to fail for.
Yeah, that's another thing- I noticed I do a lot better at social events when I don't tell myself I'll handle them well off drugs- I tell myself, "yeah, you're going to be anxious, and you're not taking any Neurontin for this. Deal." And you know what? I'm less anxious than I normally feel on Neurontin!
Anyway, just what I do...
