Hi there, I'm in Chicago too.
Since I seem to have found a group of Chicagoans here, I was curious. Have you participated in any depression support groups? I moved here three years ago and I still feel isolated, lonely and without friends. I've always had a hard time meeting people, I guess partly the depression, perhaps social anxiety, etc. I thought maybe a support group (live, not internet) might help me with this a bit, though I've heard bad stories about groups as well. Any thoughts?

Any suggestions about meeting people in general in Chicago, esp for someone who is depressed, generally quiet and shy, definintely not the bar type? (I know, a tall order!) Perhaps you've had good luck with various activities or social groups of one sort or another here in town. I've tried a few venues but still no luck making any significant contact or friendships. It's probably me and not the venue, but when I'm feeling better I'd like to get out there and give it a try again.

Thanks!
