> Your liver has only so much operating capacity; It can run your meds or proccess a drunk. You don't get both.
> After a certain young age (27?) our livers can't regenerate at the rate they did, and you wake up in the morning after a long night with holes through it- literally. This comes from Covert Bailey on his TV show on PBS. Half the brutal exhaustion of a middle aged hangover is your liver putting itself to rights. With the extra workload of meds, you're screwed. Hence the no alchohol party line.
> Lot of us guzzle the occasional glass of wine, and I must admit to an occasional longing for martinis myself. Vodka binge though? Bad Idea. It isn't a few flavors that will through your brain into chaos but the ethanol itself. If you need to throw a drunk, look at why? Lot's of us are former drunkards who were self medicating. Hmmm? Maybe? A med adjustment is easier. Do you use a mood atabilizer?
> Remember too that alchohol on meds is just an awful mess to experience; It won't be the fun time it was before meds.
> The other good reason to get sh**faced is to blow off a lot of steam. There are other ways. The coffee houses are full of us, the running clubs abound with us, I like to mountain bike screaming for the endorphins. A Coca Cola and a Xanax on occasion wil do it. Same effect, safer drug.
> You weren't planning any melodrama were you? I tried to kill myself with a couple of bottles of vodka one day and I'd advise you to just talk to your shrink about it. No gesture is worth that horror. God that was gruesome. Got locked up for it. Was sick for days, even without the witch doctoring.
> So why do you need to get soused? It really isn't an option and you need to find other things to do. Try to figure out what you really need out of a bottle, because almost dying sucks. Change is easier than you think.

> Miss Lizworking your a** off to try to get to normal really makes you appreciate good health eh??
hard to understand how people better off than you can take the good thing they have and just blow it
but i don't think jackd is doing too bad.... just anxiety?? ... and it's normal for well people to take life less seriously... it's part of being sane -- not worrying about things..
don't get me wrong though... my doc says alcohol would set me back minimum 3 days and i wouldn't want another three days of this hell ... so i am totally 100% behind you miss liz
