> I just went back to my doc earlier this week and he took me off the wellbutrin. We're going to see if I can just take the dexedrine for the ADD and depression. I'm feeling pretty positive right now that it is going to work for me. I'm really hoping so because he wants to put me on zoloft if I do start getting depressed again and I really don't want to do SSRIs anymore after my prozac experience. I do realize that people will respond differently to the different meds, but I'd rather avoid them completely if possible. This is especially since I just got the weight off that I had gained with the prozac and I don't want to start that all over again.
>I don't know if you read any of my posts a few months ago about dexedrine or not. I was on a trial of it (with Depakote) for about a month (for comorbid ADHD with bipolar), and I found that I could nearly discontinue SSRI (Celexa) while taking it. I went one stretch of about eleven days with no Celexa dose at all (I was taking tiny doses every day of Celexa). This is a phenomena that IsoM (a prev. poster here) talked about and I confirmed with my personal experience. The dex didn't really help me focus *that* much better, but it was interesting how my sleep was OK, I didn't get hypomanic on it (like many antidepressants), and I didn't feel the *need* to take an SSRI. However, historically I have had increased panic and anxiety problems associated with discontinuation of antidepressants (SSRI and tricyclics), and dexedrine won't protect you from panic attacks very effectively, unfortunately.
