Topamax is as sedating as Neurontin, if not worse. Give a try to Lamictal. It is an activating anticonvulsant/mood stabilizer which works great as pain killer.

I'm not a pain sufferer myself, but i've heard that a combo Lamictal + Neurontin works the best.
