I agree it sounds like Adderall is giving you some sympathetic activation (things like being sweaty, heart a little faster, not quite catching your breath, etc).

I liked ritalin.

As to it making you feel a bit down in the dumps or depressed, that may be partially a result of feeling physically screwed up by it (because you can think well, but feel yucky). Or it could be slightly too high a dose for you (the more you take probably the more dulled out you feel -- that's the way it works for me). Or it could be partly due to other meds you are on that once you get the right dose of the right stimulant going, you could decrease.
