> I am taking 225 mg of Effexor XR in the morning and have mostly a constant headache during the day. Experiencing sometimes stitches in the head. How could I try to manage this problem ? I took the TCA trimipramine up to 50 mg at night without any big success ! Trazodone at night up to 100 mg makes no difference but sedation in the morning.
I believe you described this headache somewhat as
a constriction band headache (like wearing a tight
swimming cap) in another post.I have suffered from this and found Klonopin,Serzone
and Topamax to be antidotes.I may try Topamax or Serzone augmentation.
The Serzone will help your sleep, but may leave
you a bit lethargic during the day (not anywhere
near as bad as Trazodone). Topamax tends to be
a bit more stimulating and may cause some brain fog.Topamax and Serzone are effective in treating SRI
(Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor) induced constriction band headaches,
tension headaches, and bruxism (jaw tension/grinding).
These pains are common with SRIs.Buspar has been shown to be effective for above problems
too. But it takes a bit longer to work ( a number of weeks ).
There was a paper suggesting Buspar as an antidote, it
also recommended 5-ht2 antagonists. Serzone and
Remeron would fall into that category, Remeron did
nada for me though (Buspar bombed too).John
