Before the effexor, I was on 300mg wellbutrin, and was unable to quit smoking on that dosage. The only side effects I have from the effexor is a 15 lb weight gain. Also, if I miss a few doses, I get headaches, and sharp pains in my head and have had uncontrollable crying spells.

So, it didn't work for smokes, but worked for drinks? I think it might have been the stimulant like effect of either WB or Effexor. The thing I noticed about Effex. (side-effectwise), was primarily nausea. When I would think about drinking more than a beer or two it just seemed like something icky where I didn't want to go. Stimulants have the same effect on me, too. Especially dexedrine. Didn't want to eat or drink much of anything on that one.
