In reply to Klonopin is a mood stabilizer????, posted by Essence on June 12, 2002, at 6:45:35

Klonopin is not normally used as a prime mood stabilizer, so the answer would be no. However, Klonopin is used as an adjunctive treatment in bipolar disorder. Since Klonopin is an anticonvulsant first and foremost (it was developed as an anticonvulsant for epilepsy) it has some adjunctive qualities to treat bipolar. But as a prime mood stabilizer? Forget about it.
