I've been on both. I didn't derive many advantages from Paranate, unless you count being awake continuously for like 72 hours upon starting it an advantage. So like, if you want to drive across the country or cram for an exam you might want to start it. . . Seriously, it was fairly lously for me. The severe insomnia got somewhat better after a bit, but cravings for sweets increased, esp at breakfast, my reaction time was slowed (I got scared driving), I got really sleepy in the afternoon), got dizzy upon standing, etc. On the good side, it did numb my oversensitivities a bit as I tend to get overly emotional and therefore, was more evened out, and I had no problem with the food restrictions, even when I did eat some of the no-no items.
As for Adderall, the first few days were great. I definately got a speed jolt from it, I guess (never took any type of ampethamine before, street drug or other wise). I talked a blue streek, I was up running at the break of dawn, I had all kinds of travel plans that had never OCCURED to me before, I had charity plans, I was going to do, do, go, go. Then, I had one of the WORST depression crashes for days. All of this was on like no more than 10 or 20 mg bid. I think it may have only been 10 taken 5 mg in am and 5 mg in the pm. My PDoc at the time was VERY conservative and very concerned about the addictive tendacies of this drug or MY addictive tendacies, whatever. Anyway, I can't explain the 3 days of hell I had. I was taking another SSRI and eventually went off and on Adderall again for a month or so, but eventually went off it all together when the stimulant effect seem to dissipate all together.
