Ponder, I found out that ativan and xanax taken sublinguilly several years ago has a much faster action of onset. I have never taken xanax any other way since that time.
The only question that comes up when taking these drugs this way is do they last as long when taken subliguilly as opposed to just swallowing them. My experience has been that there is no decrease in duration, just a much quicker onset. I can't think of any reason why I would want to sit around and wait for the xanax to work in 30 minutes as opposed to about 5-10 minutes. I recently told a neurologist at a teaching hospital that I take xanax sublinguilly and he said he had never heard of it. He thought about it for a few seconds and said it had never occured to him to take it this way, but that he couldn't think of a reason why it wouldn't enter the bloodstream much faster.
I do wonder from time to time if taking these drugs sublinguilly causes any damage to the lining of the mouth or gums, over the long haul.
