Hi Bekka. Sorry it's taken me so long to write -- I took a break from PB for a few days (for various reasons).
> You said that Cylert didn't have the roller-coaster effect that sometimes goes along with short-acting drugs like Dex and Ritalin. Is Cylert a long-acting drug (time release)?
It's not a controlled-release formulation, no; it's just a naturally long-acting drug.
It does seem like a lot of people find it ineffective -- especially people who've used Ritalin or Dexedrine before. Also, it's not clear whether Cylert has a similar mechanism of action to these other stimulants. (BTW, amphetamine has at least one mechanism that Ritalin doesn't have; this might be part of the reason you had trouble switching over. Cylert probably would not "cover" for amphetamine withdrawal, either.)
> When you were on it, did you combine it with any other meds?
No, just the Cylert.
> Was it the first medicine in its class that you had ever taken?
The first psychostimulant, you mean? Yes. I did subsequently try some other ones, but they caused problems with the MAOI that I was on at the time.
I hope this helps. Good luck, whatever you decide to do.
