> DeniseYeah it does. One of them is called a "CRF-Antagonist" and will purportedly work by blocking excess cortisol levels. Excess cortisol levels as seen in some cases of severe depression is claimed to basically "burn out the brain" of severe depressives, resulting in severe depression. Corticosteroids cause all sorts of damage to your body and in excess amounts when you are under chronic stress, this can result in brain burnout and literally subtle brain damage, which results in major depression.
Cortisol blocking drugs maybe some of the antidepressants of the future. Keep in mind that the explanation I gave above is extremely, ridiculously oversimplified, I just tried to give a quick and dirty laymans explanation.
