I live in what I love telling people is the 'banana belt' of Canada, very close to Vancouver, BC. The climatic zone here is 8b (if you're a gardener, you'll understand that). People really can grow bananas here, but they're just the decorative variety, they don't have a long enough warm period to bear fruit. Personally, I don't think the plants look that decorative myself.
After the snow melted (in a couple of days) the flowers were still okay after all. I can't wait to get outside in my garden - the best therapy there is for me.
Yeah, I'm mostly self-taught - gardening too & I pursue the science behind it too (botany). I'm just good at comprehending stuff & do enjoy teaching others. I hope to start my own small gardening business & teaching others too, as many customers have asked me where I work if I would. I just don't have a good business/organisation head on me.
