I absolutely depend on Seroquel for sleep. This doesn't thrill me, but eventually I came to look on it as I do the hypertension medicine I take every day. Without medicine to keep my blood pressure down, I'm a candidate for stroke or other unpleasantries. Without Seroquel, I'm an insomniac, and my anxiety level rises proportionately to the lack of sleep.
I take 400 mg every night. It took me weeks to adjust to this dosage - before that, I was lethargic and kind of dopey, but the Seroquel has an edge on other sleeping aids: not only am I going to sleep at a decent hour and staying asleep for 8 hours, I get up in the morning like a normal person without being groggy. This is a new phase in my life, as I've suffered regularly from insomnia since I was a teenager.
It takes time to adjust to the stuff, just like a lot of other psychiatric medications, but you do eventually adjust. I don't know about adding it to the other meds you're taking, though...your doc has to determine that.
