Of course it's not your fault. If you are using the drug to get a high then at least you know what to tell your doctor. They're are a doctor after all - they see patients as medical cases and THEY don't take things personally.
The problem is you're living with a lot of guilt and aprehension needlessly heaped on you that you need to be "detoxed" by some substance abuse center like a heroin or cocaine addict. It's much simpler than what is being implied by others here and is needlessly worrying you - someone like you that is suffering from anxiety already. There is a way for your doc to help you with tapering off and also helping you with finding the root cause of the abuse so you can be put on the RIGHT medication, that's all. It's scary at first but that's what uncontrolled anxiety is all about.
