In reply to Cyclic worries - any help out there?, posted by TenelKa on February 10, 2002, at 11:20:39
> I have GAD, and I've been focusing on one thing for worries/anxiety for a long time now - and the thing is, I don't know why. Irrational, stupid stuff. But I can't break the thought cycle - I'm on BuSpar, been on it for a month now, but I don't know how much that's helping. It's scaring the hell out of me and I keep having panic attacks, and I don't know what to do. Any advice?
Hi,
You may need to add a low-dose of an SSRI (Paxil, Luvox, Celexa, etc.) to help breakup the obsessing and ruminating. Also a benzodiazepine like Klonopin or Xanax or Ativan added should stop your panic attacks. Also, cognitive-behavioral therapy could help you stop the irrational thoughts, too.
