Lissy, many doctors are fairly cautious about the amount of hormone to give their patients. Most are women getting close to menopause & the lower the TSH level is (meaning the greater the thyroxine levels are) the more calcium is drawn from the bones. Untreated hyperthyroidism can rapidly lead to bone weakness, so doctors are reluctant to be too aggressive in treating an underactive thyroid.

Perhaps you're being mildly under-treated if you still have no energy & it needs adjusting often. What are your latest TSH levels?
