Persons who arent diagnosted with schizofrenia, should first try antidepressants that possess 5ht2 angagonist, such as remeron , or serzone, in stead of anitphsycotic meds which possess 5ht2 antagonistic properties along with dopamine d2 antagonism, such as respirdol or seroquel. I asked for the latter meds, and my pdoc said if im not experiencing dillutioins, hallucinations or thinking "alients are really coming to get me, i should stick with remeron or Gaba drugs, due to my parinoia and anxiety.

This is true Geno. Certain antidepressants possess 5HT2A receptor blocking properties. Specifically Remeron, Serzone and Trazodone all have 5HT2 receptor blocking qualities. But without the dopamine receptor blocking qualities atypical anti-psychotics have.

Thus if you have agitated depression, anxiety or agitation in general but are not truly psychotic, why risk movement disorders like EPS with atypical anti-psychotics? Remeron, Serzone and Trazodone are far safer drugs.
