Anitphycotics vs 5ht2a receptor drugs

Posted by geno on January 4, 2002, at 20:58:45

I read a post a while back which made scence. Persons who arent diagnosted with schizofrenia, should first try antidepressants that possess 5ht2 angagonist, such as remeron , or serzone, in stead of anitphsycotic meds which possess 5ht2 antagonistic properties along with dopamine d2 antagonism, such as respirdol or seroquel. I asked for the latter meds, and my pdoc said if im not experiencing dillutioins, hallucinations or thinking "alients are really coming to get me, i should stick with remeron or Gaba drugs, due to my parinoia and anxiety.
