It's well documented that BuSpar is ineffective in panic disorder. If this is what you have, then you should not have been prescribed this drug.
Many people with panic disorder are hypersensitive to antidepressants, especially SSRIs. The trick with is you start at a very low dose (you can do this easily by taking small volumes of the liquid Prozac, which I think contains 4 mg/mL) and increasing it very slowly.
The obvious alternative would be to take a benzodiazepine. The ones that are best documented as being effective for panic disorder are Klonopin, Xanax, and Ativan.
Since these attacks only happen when you're trying to get to sleep, and since Xanax doesn't work, I wonder whether your problem might be something other than panic disorder.
Finally, is there a problem with continuing to use the Remeron at bedtime? Because that seems to be working for you.
