Adamie,
I don't know of any cases where Zyprexa was used solely as an AD. It is almost always used in conjunction with a mainline AD. I take it with Nortriptyline, John takes it with Prozac. You need to find a traditional AD which shows some signs of helping. It may not necessarily make you feel "better" but just give you hope that there is a chance of some improvement in your condition. Have you given the TCA's or MAOI's a chance? They often work on treatment resistant depression when the newer class of meds has failed.
Although I've never tried it I think you will find the same with Lamictal. It has its best results when used to augment a more traditional AD.
My philosophy is to treat the symptoms and don't get all wrapped up the dark hole syndrome. I found a med that relived some of my deep dark spots and then another med thatcleared up my thinki8ng and stopped all of the suicidal ideations and then another med that helped to lift the anhedonia. Now those three meds make for a nice little cocktail that makes life for me much more bearable. So what if I take 3 meds for the rest of my life. Considering how close I was to losing my life a feew years ago, it's nice to even have a life back that's worth living.
Don't ignore polypharmacy. There's a reason there is asuch a variety of meds on the market.
