changed my mind

In reply to stopping my zyprexa, question I have, posted by adamie on November 9, 2001, at 21:23:34

hi. I might as well try to complete a full trial of this zyprexa as to not wonder later on if this med possibly would have helped me. So I will see how things go. As long as I dont feel completely horrible then I will try to stay on the zyprexa. I will see how I am with this dosage increase.

> hi. I will be stopping my zyprexa which I have taken for 3.5 weeks or so. So far all AD's I have tried have caused a worsening of depression as time went by. I couldn't stand taking them anymore. My depression would turn from little or no motivation to do anything because I would feel very bad or horrible, to becoming painful to even be alive. Constant mind torture. I think prozac or maybe effexor caused me to admit myself to a hospital. I have been on zyprexa before. The only reason I stayed on it is because unlike the other meds I've tried it has not caused mind torture. But now 3.5 weeks on it I feel very horrible. All I do is wait for the days to go by. I want to try something else. I have been reading an old message I had posted. Being off meds made me feel not too bad. Very large depression left but at least I would have a bit of motivation to do things. I want to feel that again. So no more zyprexa for me. I am tired, unmotivated, I just try to pass the time so the days go by. And generally I just feel brain dead. My thinking ability is extremely poor, concentration, and also my memory. It's hard for me to even remember the purpose behind this message I am making right now. Oh yes now I remember. I will write that in a moment. I am just sick of feeling this way. Zyprexa like the other meds hasn't caused me to become suicidal but it certainly doesn't seem to be helping at all eighter. I have felt better being off meds in the past. So perhaps I should try that again and then try a new med after my Nov 21st apointment with a pdoc. I was at a pdoc yesterday and she was unwilling to go along with any of my choices. Such as trying Lamictal or something not from the usual meds. I want to try a new class. She just wanted to try another anti-phychotic, Risperdal.

> My question is... how long would it take for the effect of zyprexa to go away once I stop taking the medication? If I feel not too horrible being off meds and I feel horrible on zyprexa, can I expect to feel better in just 3 days or so? How long would something like this take? Er. It is such a hard decision. I dunno what the heck I will be willing to try in the future. I have a fear that perhaps if I stop my zyprexa I will feel just as bad possibly. Yesterday was my first day going on an increased dose of 10mg compared to 5mg. Today I feel more horrible than yesterday. I dunno what the heck to do.
