Safe to take two meds which interact?

Posted by adamie on November 3, 2001, at 15:05:06

hi. I am currently taking Zyprexa along with Moclobemide for 4 days or so. I have been extremely tired and sleepy the last few days. I would get like 14 or so hours of sleep per day. Of the various things I have been told one thing is that the Moclobemide can increase the amount of zyprexa in my body. So recently I have decided to take the Moclobemide 600mg before bedtime along with the zyprexa as to not make me sleepy during the day. But I've also been thinking about stopping the moclobemide all together. Would it be safe to keep taking the moclobemide despite the fact that it interacts with Zyprexa? I dont think I would like to stop the zyprexa for the small possibility that it may end up helping me. I have been on it for 2 weeks or so. Two days ago I didn't take my zyprexa dose and the next day things started to 'look' scary. So I decided to keep taking it. I am thinking of stopping the moclobemide and see how it goes with the zyprexa. Is 5mg zyprexa enough for severe depression or does it need a raise? I'll be seeing my pdoc on the 8th. And the doctor who prescribed the Moclobemide was a family doctor so obviously he didn't know enough.
