Caboomba,
Your withdrawal experience is not unusual. There are some things you can do to make it easier though.

1. Take Prozac for a week, then stop. Unlike Effexor, it has a very long half life and will allow you to naturally withdraw very slowly. You may still experience some weirdness, but much milder.

2. Get back on Effexor and ween off it very slowly in very small increments. For example, decrease the dosage by about 25mg every four days or so. The slower you ween, and the smaller the steps you take, the better.

3. I don't know much about it, but in Dr Bob's Tips a doctor who was withdrawing from Effexor himself found Benadryl helpful.

I think the best bet would be a combination of #1 and #2 above. Decrease the Effexor slowly, with a little bit of Prozac in the background.
