My GP loves to add either Nortriptyline, Desipramine, or Clomipramine to ongoing SSRI treatment. Unlike you, when I tried Clomipramine the side effects were just way too intolerable. I'm glad that is not happening with you.
My favorite pdoc, now retired unfortunately, used to preach to me that the closer a drug is to correcting the real underlying chemical imbalance, the faster it will work, the lower the dose required, and the fewer the side effects. The farther away a med is from correcting the real problem, the higher the dose, the more side effects, and the longer it takes to work through chain reactions (if it ever works at all). Based on that observation, Clomipramine does indeed seem to be a good molecular match for you.
